yama.modelab.top is a lightweight map and personal peak log for people who hike around Tokyo and nearby mountains.
The current version puts peaks on a Geospatial Information Authority of Japan base map, colored by Easy, Moderate, Hard, and Expert. You can filter by areas such as Takao / Jinba, Okutama, Tanzawa, Okumusashi, Chichibu, Daibosatsu / Koshu, Fuji / Fuji Five Lakes, and Tsukuba / Boso, or search a mountain by name. Open a peak to read a short overview, then save it to your own list if you want to come back later.
You do not need an account to explore the map. Without signing in, your notes stay on that device. Sign in with a Modelab account when you want summit check-ins and hiking records to sync across devices. The site can also be added to the home screen and used as a small PWA.
As with my other Modelab projects, this is a personal, non-commercial VibeCoding project. There are no ads and no plan to sell it. It started from a simple need: when I wanted a weekend mountain near Tokyo, I wanted the map, the difficulty, and my own footprints in one place, instead of jumping between several apps.
If you also need a clear map of peaks around Tokyo and a quiet place to keep your climbs, I hope yama can be useful.
